Of NeWater and 50 First Dates
Hmm.My computer screwed up yesterday.Or rather,the internet connected screwed up.I wasn’t able to log on to the internet since yesterday afternoon.Which explains why I haven’t been blogging.Anyway,I already called the StarHub operators,and hopefully they’ll fix the problem soon.Living without internet for more than 2 days is a nightmare.Anyway,yesterday was my short day,and I had to go on the Learning Journey to the NeWater Plant organized by the school.Not that it is the most interesting place to visit really,but I’ll rather visit that place than to risk failing my maths test next Thursday.Pulau Tekong,I’ll see it soon enough anyway.I don’t need any preview of it.Anyway,so school ended early,and we had a 4 hour break until 3.20.So Valerie came over to my place to hang out.Glad to see her doing something other than school work. We watched some movies on my computer and she got fascinated over my newly added Lord of the Rings collection.Anyway, we went back to school for the guitar club ex-co members election.This is a rather big day in a guitar club calendar,since it marks the day when the seniors pass the paten down to the juniors.We were late for the election at first,so Valerie and I entered from the back door.The nominees were already lined up before the club.Thankfully,they hadn’t start to introduce themselves yet.They did,and we all got a rough idea about them and their background.Oh well,Chek Yong was amongst the fellow nominees as well,and to be honest im reluctant to vote for him.Don’t get me wrong,he’s a nice guy.But I doubt his skills as a leader.Oh well,sadly he got the most votes.Its alright,since we will have our internal voting coming up next week.Anyway,the nominees are pretty alright,some of them are pretty experienced.I think the girl called Samantha has a 4 year experience on guitar.That’s good.Too bad she’s trailing behind Chek Yong and that guy from NPCC,who received lots of love from Mr Wong and Mrs Tan.Half the guitar club members were pretty turned off by his attitude.He talks too much.Personally,I think he’s fine.Afterall,there will always be grudges and complains about the juniors from the seniors every year.Im sure they didn’t think so highly of us when we were elected.I guess we have to give them a chance.Anyway,Im voting for Samantha,and hopefully she can catch up with the other two.My vote counts as 5!Anyway,as I stood there,there was a J1 girl sitting at the second row with her friends.Oh well,she has a pretty sweet looking face,with a white hairband on her head.So while they introduced I paid more attention on her than the nominees.Oh well,I shouldn’t let the my hopes up too high should I?Anyway,Debbie,Valerie,Grace and I left the club and went down to the fountain area to board the bus.Debbie was going with her class,and Grace was too.Valerie hung out with Debbie,leaving me wandering amongst people that I don’t exactly know.Luckily,I saw KengHung and his class coming up to the carpark.Haha.That guy’s crazy.Still remember the good old days when we used to take the same bus to exhibitions and fieldtrips.Those days.Blissful days.ZaoYi was there,and Lingo was there as well.I boarded the same bus as them and we headed for the NeWater plant soon after.Half the time,I was making fun about how KengHung couldn’t keep his mouth shut,and ZaoYi kept talking about how he was going to kill this spider which was at the overhead lamp.We started talking about how noisy the bus was when it was packed with Marists a couple of years back.Those were the fun days,when we had utterly no respect for the speaker at the front of the bus.Most of the time,we just plucked in our headphones or simply made fun of anything outside the bus windows.There was this once when a bus pulled up beside ours,and it was a bus filled with neighbourhood school secondary school students.As Marists,we love to cause troubles.A malay guy stood up to the window and pulled his shirt up to his chest,then pressed his body to the window.The guys on the left side of the bus pulled back the curtains and at the count of three,pointed the middle finger to them.We had a good laugh afterwards,especially how the bus driver sped away soon after.Soon enough,we reached the destination and I stepped off the bus to a hot afternoon sun.It was burning my neck and my face was literally melting.We rushed into the visitor center,and it had an odd smell.KengHung was complaining about how the place smelt weird.I told him,”What the heck do you expect?”.Oh well,a good thing about this trip,is that you can pee anywhere and they wouldn’t care.They’ll probably take a sample of it and tell you which grade it belongs to.Anyway,enough of disgusting thoughts.We were shown to this clip,where a so called “virtual” tour guide introduced us to the plant.Which in fact was merely a pre-recorded video.Very cheesy.She kept going “Fantastic!” and putting up two thumbs up.It was really lame,and by the end of the day nobody didn’t know what comes after “Fantastic”.We got into this cinema like theatre,and watched a short clip about water conservation.It was pretty boring.The interaction area was pretty boring as well.Yeah,it had lots of LCD monitors.Yay.But it was still extremely boring.I spent most of my time in the toilet,wondering if the water we were using were directly from the stuff we flushed off earlier.Anyway,we went into another room,and watched more clips.By that time I already checked my watch 8 times.We were introduced to the different stages of the water treatment,and to be honest I was bored to hell.Felt like pouring the tour guide with some geographical terms,but nevermind.Lets not make her life difficult shall we?Last stage,the NeWater challenge.I think that’s what it is called.Basically you answer a series of questions concerning the plant,and challenge the computer to it.The whole crowd were looking at the screen answering the questions,especially Tai Ee who was jumping up and down when the computer answered the question wrongly.Just shut up dude.Really.I didn’t pay much attention to the screen as well.Half the time I was looking at her,who was standing in the corner eyeing the screen as well.While everybody stared at the screen I was the only one looking elsewhere.Hopefully she didn’t notice me.Oh well,like I said,it doesn’t mean anything.I guess I was just,bored?We took the bus back to school,and I fell asleep on the bus.Had a great sleep until somebody woke me up.We got off,and I met up with Valerie,LiPing and XinYu for the movie we discussed about earlier.

50 First Dates

We took a bus to Junction 8,and bought the tickets to the movie.While we were at the counter LiPing was desperately trying to dig out money from her wallet.The lady at the counter was already growing impatient.So I tossed out my 50 dollar note and paid for the ladies first.Met MeiShan and her boyfriend while we went down for some food.Haha.They are still together after so long.Good on you girl.Haha.Anyway,the food was,ordinary.Didn’t blow me away whatsoever.We went into the theatre on time,and it was freezing cold inside.I didn’t bring my bag,since I went home earlier to put it.Therefore,half the time I was hugging myself and rubbing my arms.Anyway,lets review the movie.50 First Dates is basically about Henry,Adam Sandler’s character,falling in love with a girl called Lucy,played by Drew Barrymore.(Yet again,they are paired up as couples.)Adam was in a restaurant one morning while waiting for his boat to be towed by the coast guard, when he saw her.She was building a house out of pancakes,and was having troubles with the door.So Henry went over and poked a toothpick through.They started talking to each other,and their life,their occupation,and soon they were falling for each other.The next day,Henry couldn’t stop thinking about her,and went back to the same resturant again.However,Lucy didn’t recognize her anymore.As he tried making her remember himself,the owner of the restaurant pulled him out of the place,and explained her problem to him.Apparently,Lucy was involved in a terrible car accident and suffered from a disease whereby she cannot have any long term memory.She could remember everything before the accident,but not after it.Anything after that would be forgotten the next day when she wakes up.So Henry goes out on a hunt on ideas on how he can make her remember again.Its nice to see how Henry goes all out to help Lucy with her problem,with the help from Lucy's weird brother and father,as well as his good friend,Ula.Ula is the comic relief in this movie,though irritating at times,but he's he never fails to make people laugh with his weird accent as well as his stupidity.Lucy's brother,played by Sean Astin(Sam from The Lord of the Rings.)plays a athletic obsessed with bodybuilding.Over the year,his father and him had been trying to cover the truth from her,by doing the same thing over and over everyday,since Lucy only has memory of that day.They had to print the same copies of newspaper,celebrate her father's birthday everyday,watch "Sixth Sense" everyday just to please her.Lucy found on about her illness later on in the film.However,though she cries over it and stuff,she would wake up the next day,anew.Basically,its Momento with a twist.There are scenes where Henry talks about how he must make her fall in love with him everyday,and how she gets her first kiss everyday.Haha.Its really funny and nice movie.Good dating movie too.Lucy is an artist,and there is this particular scene when she meets Henry,whom she had totally no memory of at that time.(She woke up in the morning,again.)She says to him,"I have to something to show you.".She leads Henry into this room,and it was her studio.Inside,it was filled with sketches and paintings of Henry.Then she said to him,"I dont know who you are,i dont remember you.But for some reason,you keep appearing in my dreams every night."That scene nailed it for me.Very nicely done.Very very good movie.You guys have to check it out.

Sometimes,i feel like Lucy.You want to delete that special someone from your life sometimes.Totally forgetting about that person's existence,even if its for a while.Sometimes,you just forget about that person.Perhaps you are too busy,perhaps you have other targets,perhaps things just force you to forget about that person.However,when you meet that person again,you fall in love with that person all over again,no matter how much you tell yourself to forget about that person.Im like Lucy,and she's like Henry.Of course,change the sex a little bit.:)

PS.Skipped GP lecture today.Nirmala got pissed.Oh well,i dont really care.Face the consequences i guess?Yeah.I already messaged her.See if things work out tomorrow.Oh,Im watching Troy with my class tomorrow.Cant wait.I wonder if they have the mental power to sit through the 2hours 40 minutes movie.Haha.Oh well,its gonna be awesome.
